This is a promotional video for the University of Montevallo Dance Team. I happen to be captain of this team so getting to showcase my work in school along with my work in the studio was so much fun! I have been apart of this program for three years now and I have watched it grow from five girls to twelve; so showing off this team meant a lot to me.

In this video I showed clips of the dancers at practice; they did various things like stretching, turns, kicks, dances, and team bonding.
Using concepts and skills learned in class so far, I created a :30 second “sizzle reel” for the UM dance team.
- I shot coverage of b-roll type shots, using a variety of shot types like we did for the photo exercise. I had many different shots and had to select which ones I wanted to be featured.
- I set the piece to music found on YouTube audio library under the category of “inspirational” music. While also adding sound effects, to enhance this video.
- I used my Photoshop skills to create and use graphics for the video to give info about the organization at the end of the video; including their name and Instagram handle.
- The video is 30 seconds long- including 1 second of black video bumper at the beginning and end.
Overview: I was relatively proud of this project. Getting behind the camera in front of a group i’m use to leading was little different for me. I wouldn’t say i was intimidated, more so felt inferior (oops). I was like alright ladies i need shots of this, this, and this. I had to fight the lighting a little bit because it is not the best in Bibb Graves. I also shad to adjust to the fact that two of the four walls in that room are mirrors and I did not want to get me filming in the video. Navigating premier pro was a task in itself. I spent about an hour watching videos on how to work it because i missed class the day he went over it (sorry about that). But once i figured it out it flowed together pretty well. The most challenging part was choosing my favorite shots and putting together the sequence.
I will be uploading it to the UM Dance Team Instagram for the PACK the SAC game we will be performing at in January. (follow us to see it!!!) @umdanceteam on Instagram. This team is great and capturing the essence of that was rewarding.
